From Halal-certified products to cultural collaborations, MAGGI celebrates Muslim traditions in every dish
Everyone can enjoy a sprinkle of upgraded flavors and deliciousness in their favorite dishes with Maggi—including our Muslim brothers and sisters, as proven at the recent SALAAM: Halal Tourism and Trade Expo.
Held in Quantum Skyview at Gateway Mall, Araneta City last June 27-29, SALAAM: Halal Tourism and Trade Expo celebrated halal cuisine and culture while bringing the spotlight to halal-certified products. This includes Maggi’s halal-certified products like Magic Sarap, which bring authentic flavor to every kitchen, including Muslim households.
One of the event’s highlights is the Halal Culinary 101 live cooking demonstration held last June 29, Sunday, with Muslim content creator and Maggi ambassador Shaha Meta and Cotabato City’s popular halal chef and Maggi consultant Chef Tahir Malikol. Championing kitchen staples perfect for Muslim families and foodies, Shaha and Chef Tahir used Maggi Magic Sarap, among other Nestlé products such as Maggi Oyster Sauce, Carnation Condensada, and Carnation Everyday Creamer to elevate the halal dishes they prepared.
Perfect for adding more flavors to any dish, Maggi Magic Sarap is an all-in-one seasoning that can be found in every Filipino household. It is made from onion, garlic, chicken meat, and spices, delivering the halal quality that Muslim families can trust for their everyday meals. To give the Muslim community some halal menu ideas featuring Maggi Magic Sarap, Shaha and Chef Tahir cooked three dishes: Chicken Pastil, Chicken Curry, and Macaroni Salad.
Audiences, which included many of our Muslim brothers and sisters, were able to personally taste and enjoy flavorful samples of the Chicken Pastil and Chicken Curry, allowing them to appreciate how Maggi can easily elevate any dish—all while remaining halal-certified.
“NESTLE believes that food is a universal language that brings people and families together; thus, one of its brands, MAGGI, proudly celebrates this by supporting diverse cuisines and cultures — especially within the Muslim community. All of the MAGGI products in the Philippines are 100% halal-certified, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and religious compliance. This commitment allows us to honor the traditions of Filipino Muslim cuisine while making authentic and delicious flavors accessible to everyone,” said Chef Tahir in an exclusive interview.
Shaha shared that she cooks with Maggi Magic Sarap for her family as it helps elevate her home-cooked dishes and specialties. For the Chicken Curry, she marinated the chicken using Maggi Magic Sarap to keep it tasty or “malinamnam” even on the inside.
Chef Tahir also shared that Maggi Magic Sarap brings a balance of sweet and savory flavors, together with a delightful aroma, to every dish. “Ang pagkaing simple, ‘pag nalagyan ng Maggi Magic Sarap ay mas lalong sasarap,” he said.
Knowing how important it is for the Muslim community to ensure that every dish and ingredient they cook and eat follows the Islamic dietary laws, Maggi is proudly 100% halal-certified across their product offerings—from Maggi Magic Sarap, Maggi Kari, and Maggi Oyster Sauce which is formulated and made with real oysters from Japan.
During the SALAAM: Halal Tourism and Trade Expo, the Muslim audiences of the Halal Culinary 101 live cooking demonstration with Shaha Meta and Chef Tahir Malikol were able to personally taste and attest to the magical goodness of the Chicken Pastil, Chicken Curry, and Macaroni Salad cooked with Maggi Magic Sarap.
Aside from these dishes they prepared at the event, Chef Tahir shared other meal ideas that Muslim foodies can cook with Maggi. “Many of our Mindanaon dishes such as linigil, tinapayan, and sinina are rich in flavor and tradition, and they are definitely dishes that our fellow Filipinos and people from foreign countries should try, especially when prepared with MAGGI as a key ingredient.”
In the past few years, Maggi has also been actively supporting our brothers and sisters in Muslim Mindanao with services, activations, and products that will help them elevate their everyday meals. With its lineup of halal-certified products, it makes more cooking options accessible for the Muslim community—solidifying its status as every cook’s and every family’s trusted ally in creating flavorful and delicious meals, while wholeheartedly supporting Muslim culture and cuisine.
